Sonohysterosalpingogram (Sono-HSG)<\/strong> is the least invasive method of assessing the contour of the uterine cavity and the patency of the fallopian tubes. It is used to diagnose potential infertility causes and evaluate the shape and the structure of the uterus.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

How does it look like?<\/p>\n<\/h3>\n

The procedure is performed in the doctor’s office. Prior to the procedure ultrasound examination is done to rule out possible visible abnormalities and pregnancy. A speculum is inserted into the vagina, and the cervix is cleaned. A very small catheter ended with a little balloon stabilizing its position is placed in the uterus. Then the saline is injected and images are documented. The doctor is able to determine the shape and size of the uterus cavity and the flow of medium through fallopian tubes.<\/p>\n

The procedure usually takes around 15-20 minutes. It is painless, however, on patient’s request anaesthesia may be used.<\/p>\n<\/span>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n

When should it be performed?<\/p>\n<\/h3>\n

The Sono-HSG should be performed between 8th-12th day of the menstruation cycle.<\/p>\n<\/span>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n

How should the patient prepare?<\/p>\n<\/h3>\n

Prior to the procedure, the bacteriological assessment of cervix should be done to rule out the possibility of infection. The Hbs and anty-HCV tests are also required.
\nThe patient is asked to come 15 minutes before and be on empty stomach. Before the procedure the patient will get a painkiller.<\/p>\n<\/span>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n

Recovery after the procedure<\/p>\n<\/h3>\n
