The AMH test (a.k.a. the anti-Müllerian hormone test) is the primary test for assessing female fertility. It determines the number and quality of ova in the ovaries and is essential when there are problems with getting pregnant. It signals the problem of premature extinction of ovarian function and gives an approximate time when you will be able to get pregnant.

The shrinkage of the supply of egg cells is a completely natural phenomenon that cannot be stopped. With the right diagnostic tools in hand, however, we can have more control over it. This, in turn, gives us the opportunity to make more informed decisions about our own parenthood, including starting efforts to have a child at the best possible time.

Fertility testing, such as AMH testing, is therefore recommended primarily to women who would like to postpone maternity plans and are wondering how much time they have left. Another group of patients who are recommended to perform this fertility test are women who are unsuccessfully trying for a child.
