DIAGNOSIS OF CAUSES OF MISCARRIAGE

Why genetic testing after a miscarriage?

Did you know that the most common cause of miscarriages is genetic diseases of the fetus? They are responsible for as many as 80% of cases of pregnancy loss. This means that the cause of miscarriage can be one of the syndromes: Down’s, Turner’s, Edwards’ or Patau, among others, which developed in the child.

To confirm this, it is necessary to perform a genetic test met. PCR, which accurately analyzes chromosomes: 13, 15, 16, 18, 21, 22, as well as the X and Y sex chromosomes, most often associated with the development of genetic defect syndromes.

You must remember that these types of genetic diseases are not hereditary, so even if no one in your family suffers from them, it does not mean that the disease did not develop in the child when you were pregnant. On the contrary, it may have been the cause of the miscarriage.

Perform additional fetal sex examination after miscarriage

Often a miscarriage occurs at an earlier stage of pregnancy, when it is impossible to determine the sex by imaging. Then the only way to know the sex of the unborn child is to perform a genetic test on the material from the miscarriage. This test can determine the sex of the fetus with 100% certainty, regardless of the duration of the pregnancy. Determining the sex of the fetus is essential if parents want to exercise their rights after a miscarriage.

Parents who have lost a child through miscarriage are entitled to:

    • maternity leave
    • funeral allowance
    • compensation if the parents had an additional insurance policy

The above benefits can be applied for at the relevant offices.

Clinical microarray – extended genetic testing after miscarriage

Are you facing recurrent miscarriages?

Clinical microarray is a DNA testing method that allows analysis of a patient’s entire genetic material in a single test. The test evaluates the number and structure of all pairs of chromosomes from 1 to 22, as well as the sex chromosomes (X,Y) with a remarkable accuracy of more than 3,500 genes. Thanks to the broad scope of the test, it is possible to detect very small changes in the genome that other methods would not be able to diagnose. These changes are responsible for, among other things, birth defects, intellectual disabilities, developmental delays, autism and many other disorders.
